Overview

Campo di Bella, nestled in the heart of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, offers a truly authentic Italian farm-to-table dining experience. Located at 10229 Sharp Rd, this restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it is a celebration of local produce, seasonal flavors, and heartfelt hospitality. The simplicity of Italian cuisine thrives here under the careful hand of Chef Marc, who transforms the farm’s bounty into elegant dishes that respect tradition while presenting fresh innovation.

The menu features a range of thoughtfully prepared items that highlight the connection between the land and the plate. Starters like the Garlic Scape and Onion Soup showcase the depth of flavor achieved by using ingredients at their peak. Tortellini, crafted with care, represents the heart of Italian comfort food, while desserts such as Strawberry Zabaglione, Baklava, and Cannoli provide a sweet conclusion rich with both texture and history. The inclusion of Gazpacho hints at a broader Mediterranean influence, adding a refreshing counterpoint to the warmth of the main offerings.

Guests are treated not only to the food but also to the story behind each course. Mary Ann, the warm and knowledgeable host, shares insights on how much of the produce is grown right on the farm or sourced from nearby farms in the region. This connection enriches the experience, linking diners to the land and community. Many patrons note the personalized attention and explanations given before courses, deepening appreciation for what is on the table.

The restaurant’s intimate and cozy space encourages connection but can fill quickly, creating a lively atmosphere best suited for small groups or those who enjoy close, communal dining. It is a place for food lovers drawn to high-quality, thoughtfully prepared dishes and those who value storytelling as part of the meal. Reservations are recommended, reflecting the demand from a clientele that appreciates the fusion of simplicity, excellence, and authenticity.

Campo di Bella’s commitment to local excellence extends beyond food. Their estate wines and house-brewed vermouth add a unique layer to the dining experience, showcasing an impressive dedication to craftsmanship and terroir. The vermouth, in particular, stands out with its sweet yet subtly spiced profile, often enjoyed neat on the rocks, highlighting the farmhouse’s artisan approach.

Repeated visits by loyal customers underline the consistency and care woven into every meal. From delicate prosciutto-wrapped cantaloupe to cider-braised pork shoulder paired exquisitely with honeycrisp apples and local cheeses, each dish is a testament to the kitchen’s artistry and respect for seasonal ingredients. The ability to return time and again and be continually impressed speaks to the enduring quality and passion present at Campo di Bella.

In sum, Campo di Bella offers more than a meal; it offers a connection—to the soil, to tradition, and to community. It is a destination for those seeking honest Italian flavors elevated by farm-fresh ingredients and heartfelt hospitality in a welcoming rural setting. A sincere culinary gem for anyone eager to savor good food and genuine stories.

What a wonderful evening! Great food and wine, and such a great guest vintner from Portugal (Viero de Sousa). I will be back and will be sharing my experience with those who enjoy good food and stories!

Stopped here tonight after reading a review on Facebook. Farm to table experience. We enjoyed everything about the experience. Make reservations online. You eat what everyone else eats. Locally sourced food. Much grown there on the farm. Their estate wine was very good. The star of the show was the Vermouth. Its brewed there on the estate. Highly recommend if you like high quality food that's well prepared. Yum.

We had been looking for a local farm-to-table experience when we found Campo di Bella. Our first visit was a Saturday evening which consisted of a five course meal. Everything about the evening was exceptional. The first course was bruschetta, followed by a refreshing fresh salad with lemon dressing. The main course was flank steak, cooked perfectly. This was followed by a cheese board with delectable cheese samples from local dairies. For dessert, they had an absolutely amazing home made vanilla ice cream. It was rich, creamy, and very tasty. We enjoyed it so much, that we immediately reserved a second dinner which had cider braised pork shoulder as the entree. Again, the meal was exceptional. It started with prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe. I've never had prosciutto sliced so thinly, it was tender and flavorful. This was followed by a butternut squash soup that was thick and rich. I didn't know butternut squash could be so flavorful. I cleaned my bowl so thoroughly that the host jokingly asked if they forgot to serve me. The pork was next. Served with honey crisp apples. It was tender and perfectly juicy. Again, a cheese board was served before dessert. All very tasty local cheeses. For dessert, a French apple tart. I could have eaten a whole tray, it was so good. I've now been there over 20 times. Every time has been exceptional. They offer a variety of wines, ciders, and local beer to go with your meal. They also make their own vermouth which is sweet, with a hint of clove. It's so good, in fact, that we had it on the rocks. Not mixed. The host, Mary Ann, is wonderful. She takes time before each course to provide background on the home grown or locally sourced ingredients. She also gives a history of the farm and her family and, if the season permits, offers a tour of their farm. Marc (Mary Ann's Husband) is the chef. He is a culinary wizard. As I mentioned, I've been back over 20 times, which equates to almost 80 different dishes. All of them amazing! My only criticism (it's a minor one) is that the room is small and cozy and it can get a bit loud inside. It depends on the crowd, but it can be a bit hard to carry a conversation. In summary: exceptional food and exceptional people. I could not recommend it more. Update: We’ve been coming back to Campo di Bella for the last 5 years. At least 60 times or more and we’ve never been disappointed. Marc and Mary Ann are incredible hosts that continue to create amazing meals and experiences.

Phenomenal food, served by kind and friendly people. Also my table had a dog and cat hanging out by it, and we were sat on the porch watching the setting sun over the farm. Before anything was brought out, we were given an explanation of all the courses, as well as the philosophy behind both the farm and the restaurant, all of which increased our enjoyment dramatically. Our first course was a zucchini confit, which was phenomenal, melting in my mouth and delighting all of the senses. Next was a salad of sorts with pork and a sauce made from anchovies that was tantalizing. We then transitioned into the main course of pork sausage and chicken. Simple ingredients, prepared well beats crazy, fancy, and bad any day. For dessert was a course of cheese and then a basil ice cream with biscotti, and olive oil drizzled over the top. This evening was one of the best meals that I can remember having, made all the better by the environment and the company. I wish I had a photo of the food, but I was far too interested in the eating of it all.

I planned this trip many months in advance and it was very worth it! Excellent on all accounts. Food was delicious and fresh. Hospitality was wonderful. We loved learning about the farm and the communal aspect of its operation, with many contributing producers in the region. Gave us several more farms to check out! Already planning our next visit.
